Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters to have his statement recorded. This follows ongoing investigations into allegations of corruption and money laundering linked to his administration.
Ismail Sabri arrived at 9:46 AM in a black sedan, as part of an inquiry into hundreds of millions of ringgit spent on promotional and publicity expenditures during his tenure from 2021 to 2022. The MACC has already seized RM170 million in cash, 16kg of gold bullion worth RM7 million, and frozen 13 bank accounts holding over RM2 million as part of its investigation.
🌏 International: Japan Converts Cow Manure into Hydrogen Fuel
In an innovative step towards clean energy, Japan has launched a groundbreaking project in Hokkaido that transforms cow manure into hydrogen fuel. This first-of-its-kind initiative extracts methane from manure and converts it into hydrogen, providing a zero-carbon emission energy source.
The hydrogen produced is used to power local farms, industrial vehicles, and even a zoo, marking a significant move towards sustainability and renewable energy solutions.
🌎 Asia: German Intelligence Suggests COVID-19 Lab Leak Likely
According to reports from Die Zeit and Sueddeutscher Zeitung, Germany’s foreign intelligence agency (BND) assessed an 80-90% probability that the COVID-19 virus accidentally leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China.
The BND investigation, commissioned by former Chancellor Angela Merkel’s office, found indications that the institute conducted gain-of-function experiments, modifying viruses to make them more transmissible to humans. The report also highlighted safety violations at the lab.
The findings were reportedly shared with the CIA, which previously stated it had “low confidence” in determining the exact origins of the virus. Meanwhile, China has strongly denied the claims, maintaining that the Wuhan lab did not conduct gain-of-function research and accusing the U.S. of politicizing the issue.
